Fall Wedding Colors: 17 Gorgeous Fall Wedding Color Schemes
Fall is a gorgeous time of year, and it is becoming an increasingly popular season for weddings.
The temperatures are often comfortable, and it is the time when nature looks its most beautiful with the soft sunshine hues, the jewel toned leaves, and the beautiful autumnal flowers blooming. It can be difficult to know what color schemes and themes to choose for a fall wedding, especially as there is so much that would work.
To help you, we have chosen 17 of our favorite fall color schemes that will suit any wedding, big or small!
Pumpkin Orange
What better way to start our article about fall wedding color schemes than with pumpkin orange. Nothing screams fall louder than those gorgeous gourds, and they happen to look fantastic at a wedding.
Whether you use them as centerpieces, make a bouquet based on them, or choose pumpkin orange colored wedding dresses, you can make this gorgeous orange hue a really sophisticated color scheme for your fall nuptials.
Mustard Yellow and Navy
Navy is the perfect color for autumn. It’s often too dark for spring and summer weddings, but fall is a perfect time.
Pair it with mustard yellow, similar to the yellowing leaves of the trees and you are well on your way to a fall wedding to die for!
It looks especially good on your groom and groomsmen, with a mustard yellow tie to really set it off. You can even get navy table clothes and use mustard yellow napkins as accents.
Plum Purple and Gold
This luxurious and decadent color pairing works so well in the fall. We love how gold compliments the deep plum colors.
Dress your bridesmaids and flower girls in plum purple gowns, and adorn your venue with purple flowers.
Gold cutlery and confetti will catch the light in that late autumn sun, making it the autumn wedding of your dreams.
Wine Red
We just love the classic wine red color. Adorn your lips with the traditional fall color, and dress your groom in a suit of wine red, too.
Don’t forget to incorporate this deep red in your bouquets too, to tie it all together. You could even break tradition in a wine red wedding dress that is bound to turn heads and look gorgeous against a background of falling autumn leaves.
Sage
This pale herby green is a very trendy color for weddings right now, especially in spring and summer.
However, we think it works just as well in the fall as it complements the rich oranges and reds of the season well.
Add subtle hints of sage throughout your venue, with a sage colored cake, lots of sage green foliage, and perhaps even sage green boutonnieres for your groomsmen.
Pale Lavender and Plum Purple
Hues of purple are a fantastic choice for a fall wedding, especially for your bridesmaids. Make a statement by putting your bride tribe each in a different shade of purple.
Pale lavender and plum purple work particularly well together. Don’t forget to use these colors in your centerpieces and bouquets, too, to make sure it all ties together seamlessly!
Navy and Gold
There is just something about navy and gold together that looks quite regal. They complement each other well and work with all of the colors in the fall palette such as reds, burnt oranges, and yellows.
Choose a very dark, almost-black navy and pair it with a striking yellow gold (or rose gold to be extra fashionable).
In this case, more is more for the gold aspect, so put your bridesmaids in navy with gold makeup and accessories, keep your bridal jewelry gold, and use gold cutlery, candelabras, confetti, and more.
You can even ask your caterers to use edible gold leaf on your desserts and wedding cake!
Pale Pink and Green
Pale pink is typically associated with spring and summer weddings, but, when paired with autumnal greens it can look gorgeous for a fall wedding.
Add hints of pink to your bouquet, and intertwine it into your centerpieces.
You can find some gorgeous pink fall flowers, such as chrysanthemums and roses, which can be paired with decorative dried grasses, dark green foliage, and decorative berries for the ultimate fall bouquet.
Shades of Orange
From burnt sienna to bright pumpkin orange, from soft peach to terracotta. Every shade of orange is on-trend when it comes to a fall wedding.
Incorporate all of them in your wedding, along with some muted browns and greens for a fall-tastic wedding.
We love this orange archway below. You can even have your bridesmaids in different shades of orange, and incorporate orange flowers into your bouquet.
Copper and Green
Subtle copper and green decor look gorgeous for a pared back, simple fall wedding. We especially love this hint of copper against the exposed brick wall for the seating plan.
If you want to keep your colors toned down, incorporating some pale copper and green into your day can turn it from drab to fab, without being too over the top.
Use copper cutlery, have a foliage-only green bouquet, and ask your decorators to use centerpieces that incorporate tiny, twinkly, copper-wire fairy lights.
Teal Blue and Burnt Orange
Who knew these two contrasting colors could work so well together? And no one can deny how fitting they are with the fall theme.
Choose teal blue suits with a burnt orange tie for your groomsmen and burnt orange dresses for the bridal party. Incorporate each of the colors into your bouquets and decor for an extra put-together fall look.
We think this works brilliantly for an outdoor wedding, where the teal contrasts well with the falling leaves.
Pumpkin Orange and Forest Green
These two colors pair so well together. We love the jewel toned greens of the forest against that recognizable orange of fall pumpkins.
Dress your groom and groomsmen in eye-catching forest green suits, and use pumpkin orange accents in your bouquets, decor, and bridesmaid dresses to create the perfect contrast in your fall wedding.
Green and Burgundy
Dark green and burgundy can often be reminiscent of Christmas, however, we think they can also work well together in the fall.
Choose both of these colors for a dramatic fall aesthetic. You can dress your bridal party in both colors for a perfect contrast in photos.
Choose fall flowers in that deep burgundy red, and complement them with dark green foliage.
Beige with a Pop of Color
Never again will beige be a boring color! The use of beige in weddings is becoming extremely popular, with rattan and wicker being used as wedding decor and furniture.
Pair these natural colors with a pop of autumn, such as dark teal blue or yellow.
Autumn Leaves
Take inspiration from the colors of nature with this color scheme. Emulate the falling leaves and choose a theme full of dark orange, crispy red, golden yellow, and brown.
You can even take advantage of the plethora of leaves around you and use them to make a gorgeous archway like the photo below.
Use flowers of the same color, and put your bridal party in dark forest green to compliment the leaves nicely.
Sunflower Yellow and Purple
Sunflowers are the quintessential early fall flower, with that bright yellow hue and dark middle. They look utterly divine when used in a wedding bouquet, and complement the hues of autumn perfectly.
We love pairing sunflower yellow with dark purple. The interesting contrast just screams fall and is the perfect choice for the couple looking to make a statement at their nuptials.
Purple and Black
Purple and black are reminiscent of the Gothic aesthetic and Halloween. We love this different vibe for a wedding, especially for the Halloween-loving couple.
Break tradition in a black wedding dress, or if you don’t feel that brave, black bridesmaids’ dresses work well. Use dark purple flowers and black and purple decor for an extra spooky fall theme.
Does my wedding color scheme have to match the season?
No! Your wedding color scheme is absolutely your choice! Just because you are getting married in the fall, does not mean you need to have a fall inspired color scheme.
Likewise, if you are getting married on a gorgeous spring day, you can still have a pumpkin orange themed wedding! The season you choose to get married in does not mean you have to choose a theme to match. Of course, if your wedding is outside, it may be a little more obvious what season it is (with leaves in fall and snow in winter), but realistically, this does not matter, and you can incorporate any theme you like into your chosen season.
How can I incorporate my color scheme into my wedding?
You can incorporate your chosen color scheme into your wedding any way you wish.
Whether you want it to be subtle, or in your face, how you choose to incorporate your color scheme into your wedding is totally your choice.
To help you out, we have included a list of the different ways you can sneak that color scheme in, some subtle, and some not so subtle.
The list is not exhaustive by any means but is meant to be a source of inspiration and a first step so you can start thinking about how to use your color scheme on your big day.

How many colors should be in my color scheme?
You can have as many colors as you want in your color scheme. If you want all of the colors of the rainbow, there is no reason why you shouldn’t.
However, if you want to play it by the rules, it is thought that the ideal color palette for a wedding has no less than 3 colors and no more than 5 colors. Remember, this can include shades of the same color! It does not mean you need 5 totally different contrasting colors. This is just guidance, however, and we have experienced countless gorgeous weddings that use just 1 or 2 colors (in fact, 2 colors in a theme is very common!).
